Short bio (~60 words)
John Wayne Falbey is the internationally bestselling author of the Sleeping Dogs thrillers — eight novels of espionage and geopolitical intrigue, with a ninth, Hidden Dragons, Sleeping Dogs, releasing November 2026. His debut, Sleeping Dogs: The Awakening, reached #1 in two Amazon genres. A former transactional attorney and real estate developer, he lives, writes, and trains daily in Southwest Florida.
Long bio
John Wayne Falbey writes thrillers set in the contemporary world of international espionage and geopolitical intrigue. A native Floridian, he graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Law and spent years practicing transactional law for real estate investors, developers, and lenders before crossing into development itself — along the way earning an MBA and a doctorate in business management, and building and chairing a graduate program in real estate development.
He wrote his first novel, The Quixotics, between 1:00 and 3:00 a.m. as a law student, and returned to fiction full-time in 2010, when the Sleeping Dogs series was born. His debut reached #1 in two Amazon categories on its way to international bestseller status; seven more Sleeping Dogs thrillers have followed, with the ninth, Hidden Dragons, Sleeping Dogs, releasing November 2026. He continues to expand the series and trains daily — swimming, cycling, running, and weights — in Southwest Florida.

A former professor and experienced speaker who has presented nationally and internationally, Falbey is available for print and podcast interviews, library programs, book clubs (in person across Southwest Florida, or by video anywhere), bookstore events, and festival panels. Story angles that reliably land: the accidental “John Wayne” naming; the attorney-developer who writes bestselling black-ops thrillers; and the research behind the series' gene-editing storyline.
